Troubleshooting • Re: installing/setup of Raspberry pi

I took out the microSD card and restarted. Then I can no longer access the Raspberry Pi (at least via PuttY and VNCDriver).
a) Does that mean that my raspberry pi boots from the microSD card?
b) Is it possible to put all necessary files on the raspberry pi itself - so it can start with SD card? Or is a Raspberry pi meant to run with a microSD as 'hard drive'.
c) If a raspberry Pi can run without microSD ... how do I get installation files on the raspberry pi 5?
a) Yes (It can also boot from USB).
b) No. The Raspberry Pi has no built in storage for the OS. You have to use the micro SD card or a USB storage device or a NVME SSD in a Pi PCIe adaptor.
c) Not possible.
