Troubleshooting • Pi 5 RTC charging files/directories do not exist

Pi 5 64 bit running Bookworm.
Finally got my RTC battery and went through the Pi documentation to turn on charging.
Added 'dtparam=rtc_bbat_vchg=3000000' to '/boot/firmware/config.txt:' per documentation.
Rebooted and checked for the files that are supposed to regulate charging;

/sys/devices/platform/soc/soc:rpi_rtc/rtc/rtc0/charging_voltage:3000000
/sys/devices/platform/soc/soc:rpi_rtc/rtc/rtc0/charging_voltage_max:4400000
/sys/devices/platform/soc/soc:rpi_rtc/rtc/rtc0/charging_voltage_min:1300000

No RTC directories or file exist.
If I read the documentation correctly, it appears that these files/directories should exist even if the battery charging is NOT enabled. The first line should end with '0', changed to '3000000' after charging set.

When I run 'sudo vcgencmd pmic_read_adc BATT_V' over several days now, I find the battery voltage dropping.
The battery shipped at a 2.75 voltage. Now down to 2.73076700V.

How can I tell if the dtparam is being set?
How do I get the battery to charge?

Thanks,
Wayne
