Thanks for the reply. I appreciate your patience and willingness to chime in. I have been using Linux for years but am a Pi newbie. Are you using the official 5A power supply? What storage - micro sd card? Have you run Pi Diagnostics on it?
Are you using a wired keyboard and mouse?
Is the Pi5 connected to an hdmi monitor?
Is the OS fully updated?
In response:
Yes, official 5A power supply. Last week I booted up and had a message that the power supply was insufficient. I asked about that here and someone here recommended unplugging and reconnecting it viewtopic.php?t=365878 (DUH!) and the message went away,. It appeared once more a couple of days ago and I did the same thing.
Booting off of a Sandisk 1TB Extreme SSD. I will try booting from an SD card, see if that makes a difference. I may have done that last evening and it did not, but not certain. Will in a bit.
Have not run PI Diags. Will do that.
USB wireless keyboard and mouse. I use the computer in two different locals and move the box back and forth. At my other place I use a Logitech Unifying kb and mouse. This set up is another brand, bud had never given me issue before. Had not thought about the input devices being the issue. Maybe. Will have to see if I can find another input system to use here or wait until I can get back to my other place.
Yes, connected to an HDMI monitor, 1,366 x 768, 60hz.
OS is fully updated.
Still, it is doing this in LibreOffice Write and text editor, but it is not happening here. Has not hung once in this window since I started typing this reply, but just hung up and autonomously logged out while using LibreOffice.
I will have to dig into this and try some different variables: boot from different media, use other input devices.
