There is something wrong with the speedtest-cli in Bookworm on my Pi5. Here are a few tests I ran:

Code:

pi@knutepi:~ $ speedtest-cliRetrieving speedtest.net configuration...Testing from Starlink (129.222.77.162)...Retrieving speedtest.net server list...Selecting best server based on ping...Hosted by Nortex Communications (Muenster, TX) [1252.25 km]: 61.257 msTesting download speed................................................................................Download: 0.44 Mbit/sTesting upload speed......................................................................................................Upload: 0.17 Mbit/spi@knutepi:~ $ speedtest-cliRetrieving speedtest.net configuration...Testing from Starlink (129.222.77.162)...Retrieving speedtest.net server list...Selecting best server based on ping...Hosted by Nortex Communications (Muenster, TX) [1252.25 km]: 76.019 msTesting download speed................................................................................Download: 0.08 Mbit/sTesting upload speed......................................................................................................Upload: 0.83 Mbit/spi@knutepi:~ $ speedtestRetrieving speedtest.net configuration...Testing from Starlink (129.222.77.162)...Retrieving speedtest.net server list...Selecting best server based on ping...Hosted by Cherokee County Electric Co-Op (Bullard , TX) [1279.64 km]: 56.084 msTesting download speed................................................................................Download: 0.08 Mbit/sTesting upload speed......................................................................................................Upload: 0.83 Mbit/s
At the same time using Chromium or Firefox connected to speedtest.net I'm getting between 50 and 80 megabit.

I ran the test on my Xubuntu desktop and get these results:

Code:

knute@knute-XPS-8700:~$ speedtestRetrieving speedtest.net configuration...Testing from Starlink (129.222.77.162)...Retrieving speedtest.net server list...Selecting best server based on ping...Hosted by Nitel (Dallas, TX) [1295.62 km]: 58.139 msTesting download speed................................................................................Download: 55.42 Mbit/sTesting upload speed......................................................................................................Upload: 29.76 Mbit/s
My Pi5 is up to date. Both computers are connected to the same switch.

From my Pi5:

Code:

pi@knutepi:~ $ speedtest-cli --versionspeedtest-cli 2.1.3Python 3.11.2 (main, Mar 13 2023, 12:18:29) [GCC 12.2.0]pi@knutepi:~ $ speedtest --versionspeedtest-cli 2.1.3Python 3.11.2 (main, Mar 13 2023, 12:18:29) [GCC 12.2.0]
From my Xubuntu desktop:

Code:

knute@knute-XPS-8700:~$ speedtest-cli --versionspeedtest-cli 2.1.3Python 3.11.6 (main, Oct 8 2023, 05:06:43) [GCC 13.2.0]knute@knute-XPS-8700:~$ speedtest-cli --versionspeedtest-cli 2.1.3Python 3.11.6 (main, Oct 8 2023, 05:06:43) [GCC 13.2.0]
I had to change the display back to X11 to get a screen grab. This is Pi5:
