Thanks for the fast reply. Nope, no HDMI output when booted without an SD Card. Just the usual 4 LED blinks to say no/bad media. I must have an older bootloader.
Thanks for the link re Steam Link. It runs fine without the desktop, which is why I'm using bullseye light. If I do it all without rebooting, I can get into steam link and load a game... but because I can't raise the video memory to the recommended 128M without rebooting, performance is bad. And of course rebooting is a red screen.
