But did the reboot sort the issue or did the change back to Wayland?

I did try rebooting on X11. The updater on Wayland is a different program, I believe.

Would have been interested to see what the command line apt program reported.

I'm sure I'll get another opportunity to try that before too long. The updater flakes out pretty often on X11, like just disappearing when run, mostly.

TBH - not found of GUIs on any machine at the mo (inc my Macs)...

What do you use to watch videos or browse the internet?
