I had this happen.
My pi4 was switched on and I could see that the hdmi lead was loose, indeed I had breakup on the display, so I stupidly decided to reseat it. Just pushed it in firmly and then the port stopped working.
I should add, there is no damage to the connector or the board and I'm still using the original hdmi cable.
Port 1 works fine but port 0 has never worked since.
