Had the same issue with my pi 5 and followed guide for eeprom update with sd card from memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=74876
It really helped. Download from the link below, extract in a freshly formated sd card, insert in your Pi 5 and boot, a green screen will show up for the time of the update. When the green screen goes off, wait for some minutes and power off manually, remove the sd card from the pi 5 and that's it. Good luck Image may be NSFW.
