So I left this a long time but I did try the advice here.
I discovered that on the Pi 4 8GB, the TVS diode is actually by the ethernet port, not by the USB-C port. I identified it and lifted it off the solder pad.
It didn't make any difference. The Pi still refuses to power on.
Guessing it's really dead? Unless there's something else I can try?
