IGNORE THIS PROBLEM FIXED
This all started when I couldn't print because I was getting cups-pki-invalid messages.
So I ended up by deleting the whole of my /etc/cups directory. Yep, I know now it was the wrong thing to do.
When I tried to reinstall CUP using sudo apt install cups CUPS will install but it doesn't put all the files back into a /etc/cups directory.
Importantly missing are the cupsd.conf and the SSL information required in /etc/cups/ssl
How do I get CUPS to install completely?
