I am a newbie though I did have an original RPi back in 2013. I have installed my new Zero W using imager_1.8.5 with a full formatted 32Gb card. The RPi and 5”monitor are both on individual 2a supplies. USB Mouse and USB keyboard are attached through an 8a USB hub. The RPi boots with flashing LED up to the “Welcome to the Raspberry Pi Desktop! Before you start using it there are a few things to set up. Press next to get started.” Neither mouse nor keyboard produce any action. I have tried both USB and WiFi connected units with no success. Both mice and keyboards work with my desktop. After some minutes the RPi appears to sleep with LED still on but no signal to the HDMI monitor. Device manager recognizes the RPi as BCM2708Boot. I have read and tried everything possible in your Boot Problems Sticky, and also searched for relevant similar problems. I will appreciate your help if you can suggest anything else to try.
