Thanks for getting back to me. So i tried rebooting several times with and without the sd card when i wrote the sd card with raspberry os it was varified. But i used the micro hdmi adapter to hdmi into my tv for the monitor a usb keyboard a wireless mouse with the usb receiver. I have the raspberry starter kit so i plugged the 9 volt battery into the power supply and power supply into the pi 5 with the 9 volt the light would stay red except for it would turn green once for 1 second then back to red. Then i hooked my type c phone charger directly to the sbc the tv registered a signal but the screen stays black. The light stays green but fades out after a min. I dont have a heat sink on it yet. Does that help narrow things down?
Which "starter kit" and from where? Somewhat puzzled by this info.
"so i plugged the 9 volt battery into the power supply and power supply into the pi 5 ..."
since no Pi uses 9V (or any other voltage battery) normally so I'm guessing that's some form of (wireless?) add on. FWIW some pictures of my Pi5 and cases, heatsinks etc.. can be seen here: https://www.cpmspectrepi.uk/raspberry_p ... elPi5.html (No batteries anywhere, apart from any in wireless mice or keyboards which are never 9V)
Trev.
