My RPi5 would not allow putty to connect. I had almost given up hope, but your fix saved my bacon.
Just to be sure, I went to putty, went to putty's selection for fonts choices, selected monospace, went back to session and called my session fixedMonospace and saved it, so I need to load fixed-Monospace each time I use putty and that is a pleasure since putty was worthless to me before I read your reply above.
