Hi all
I am quite new to the Pi world but enjoy tinkering! I have got a Pi5 with 8gb RAM, and wanted to add an NVME drive to it, so I purchased:
- Pineboards HatDrive! Nano for Raspberry Pi 5
- Raspberry Pi NVMe SSD 256gb
I plugged it all together and followed some online guides, adding 'dtparam=pciex1_gen=3' to the config.txt file
I haven't been able to access the drive. I have run:
lsblk
NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINTS
mmcblk0 179:0 0 29.7G 0 disk
- mmcblk0p1 179:1 0 512M 0 part /boot/firmware
- mmcblk0p2 179:2 0 29.2G 0 part /
nvme0n1 259:0 0 0B 0 disk
root@cadgepi:~# parted nvme0n1
Error: Could not stat device nvme0n1 - No such file or directory.
I have installed the Disks app and the disk shows up as:
Disks - SAMSUNG MZ9LQ256HBJD-00BVL (FXM71V1Q) but under Volumes it says "No Medium" and I can't do any actions on the drive at all - everything is greyed out.
If I try the SD card copier or PI imager - they can both see the Samsung device, but unsurprisingly can't write to it.
Can anyone point me the right way? Is it a faulty card, or am I just doing something wrong?
Any help appreciated.
Cheers
Chris
