Oh, how impressed I am! He wanted to set up secure boot on the server running my smart home system, Home Assistant. But since that would require turning it off for such experiments, I allocated a spare Raspberry Pi for him. I couldn't have imagined that it was possible to lock it down so much that you couldn't simply wipe it and restore it to factory settings. Someone above mentioned kids shorting GPIO—I've never had that, but I have had burned-out USB controllers!as am iI'm quite impressed that they got this far.
