That's normal. It's not three partitions, it's just two and the rest of the drive is unused. When the OS is first booted it should expand that second partition to use all of the remaining space.it appears that my raspberry pi imager 1.8.5 is not formatting the disk properly. i get 3 partitions on it. one is the boot dive - 512mb. then depending on the size of the disk, it gives a primary drive of 1-3gb. the rest is unallocated. i checked one of my pi4 disks and unless this changed from pi 4 to 5 the disk had 2 partitions - one for boot and one for the rest of the drive.
