I have a Raspberry Pi 4 running the latest bookworm release and I get no audio out on either HDMI port (I normally use HDMI 0 - the one next to the power USB-C socket).
I will admit that my monitor has some form because there are issues with the EDID data that it emits (its a TV acting as an ‘HD’ monitor but occasionally, indeed mostly, it fails to offer 1080p resolution but I have forced that with a fix helpfully provided by a genius on this forum). As a result I have taken care to attempt to eliminate the monitor as a problem at this stage.
I have verified that the monitor _is_ issuing EDID data that confirms a sound channel is available (RPi displays the same parameters as a PC running Debian receives). So I don’t think that the EDID data is the issue.
In raspi-config the _only_ sound option is ‘headphone’ which isn’t helpful. I have followed some of the forum suggestions and added stuff to config.txt etc to no avail.
Any thoughts?
Ian
PS - the objective here with this particular Pi is to run Kodi. However, I have other RPis that I want to use with this monitor and sound output would be useful generally.
