It's been driving me nuts for a whole day yesterday ...
I'm trying to install the Cinnamon desktop. I've succeeded all the way to get autologin and have the Cinnamon desktop/GUI shown & working.
However, I don't want to autologin. I'd like to login manually. So I set in /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf autologin-user=<blank> and also tried commenting out that line as well.
When I do that, on reboot it goes to the terminal console, it should have gone to the greeter login screen.
I've tried using sudo raspi-config and setting boot to Desktop without autologin. This reboots into the normal Raspbian desktop (no autologin). Not cinnamon as expected.
When I go back to lightdm.conf and set autologin-user to pi on reboot it goes and autologins pi into cinnamon (expected).
Also, when I logout it goes right back in and autologins into cinnamnon (not expected, it should have gone into the greeter login screen).
What is wrong? Please help me troubleshoot this.
