Troubleshooting • Pi 5 8gig not rebooting but cold booting ok

I'm a little stumped with this one.

I have a 5b 8gig model which can't seem to reboot - well *most* of the time it won't but does reboot sometimes. The system simply there issuing 8 short flashes form the LED.

I have the same problem whether booting form SD card or from an NVMe drive; behaviour is no different (also if no media is present to initiate the boot menu).

I have read that this indicates SDRam failure but the same advice also said that I would find this on cold boot too; I've run MEMTESTER to as high a range as I can (booting with a console only boot) running about a dozen passes and found zero issues. I'm not convinced this tests all of system ram like something like memtest86+ does (not sure if there's an ARM64 equivalent, haven't found mention of one).

Operationally the system performs fine and I've not run into other issues other than this rebooting issue.

I can shut it down with a long power button push (LED turns to red) - turning back on boots perfectly well. I can achieve same from ripping power out and re-plugging it, boot cycle normal.

I have two official Pi supplies (one with an earlier 4b 8gig) and one of the supplies was showing undervoltage warnings on screen in Pi OS - I swapped them around but the problem persists and behaviour hasn't changed.

I'm not sure what to make of this one, is there a proper ram testing utility that does a more comprehensive test of all the system's ram? Happy to fry'n'burn the build as I haven't commissioned the unit yet (it's just over a year old I think but hasn't had a huge amount of use but has been plugged and running for a long time).
