Troubleshooting • NVME SSD no longer recognized on RP5

Hi, I recently purchased a Raspberry Pi 5 16GB with the official NVME M2 Hat on which I installed an M2 2230 SSD. Not having a USB adapter, I first installed Raspberry Pi OS Desktop on the SD Card and then used rpi-clone integrated into the operating system to transfer it to the SSD. I then changed the boot order to NVME and everything worked fine. Next I wanted to try Raspberry Pi OS Lite so I installed it on SD Card and downloaded rpi-clone. It seemed to have copied everything correctly but gave a partition synchronization error. I restarted but the fan started running at maximum speed for a few minutes until I decided to turn it off. Upon reboot it no longer recognized the SSD and it didn't even boot from the SD card. I searched the internet and found a post on this forum on how to reinstall the bootloader with SD Card, however, although I can now boot from SD card, it no longer recognizes any SSD. I tried two. Furthermore, SSDs become very hot when left installed. How can I fix it?
