Troubleshooting • Re: Raspberry Pi 4 Model B - Can't get HDMI or Audio to work

I have this issue too: Pi 4 won't connect to bluetooth speakers. Does anyone know why?

I had this ussue before and people on here said it works on theirs so I must be doing something wrong. It never got sorted out but it was ok on my Pi 3 so I used that but had to take a monitor with me instead of the nice portable touchscreen on my Pi 4.

Now I'm wanting to use my Pi 4 plus touchscreen with bluetooth speakers and thinking it must be a simple setting somewhere - but where? Can someone help please?

Speaker on; says "bluetooth pairing"

Under BT menu I select 'make discoverable', though my speaker id is shown. Try 'stop discoverable'; no difference.
If I select the speaker name (it has white X in red circle and shows 'connect' option (nothing else) which results in
message box telling me: "connection failed - use the audio menu to connect this device" 'ok'
Not sure what this means. What audio menu?

Try the raspi-config menu / system options/ audio ... only shows '0 Headphones' and no other options.
(meanwhile BT speaker gives up and switches off!) Does headphones mean direct connection?

One more thing: speaker logo at top of screen has a red X and when clicked it shows a tick next to mute and a volume slider but neither can be changed.

Any suggestions?

I set this up some while ago and don't remember what OS version it is. How do I find out?
