Troubleshooting • Touch Displays virtual keyboards have "dead" keys in Chromium

Touch Displays virtual keyboards have "dead" keys in Chromium.
I was playing with my latest acquisition, RPi Touch Display2 on an RPi5. I opened Chromium and typed in a URL.
I got a not found message. I looked at what I'd typed and saw it was missing a "k". I put the cursor where the missing character was, hit "k" and nada. I tried this several times and then tested the letter keys. I found that "q" didn't show up either. I opened LibreOffice Writer and the keys worked fine. Same for Terminal.
I got out my Touch Display original model with a 4b and tested it. Chromium: No "q" or "k." LibreOffice Writer and Terminal were both fine.
I never noticed this problem yesterday so I suspect that I acquired this problem when I updated. I updated and rebooted again today and the problem remained.
This is something completely different for me. Any cures will be appreciated.
I tried to attach photos but they are too large. I will attempt to cure. I managed to reduce the sizes but I am unable to copy them to this post. Directions please if you want to see them.
