Troubleshooting • Problem with GPS USB Device

I have two GPS USB devices (Module,Vk-162) that I am having problems with. It seems that they don't really acquire satellite locks that often.

I am using python on a Pi5.

Pi5, Pi4
Python GPS module
GPSMON
CGPS

Command line utilities show very weak SNR (all below 30, most lower than 20).
I have tried beside a window, on hood of a vehicle (stationary, moving). I have tried with/without a metal base to act as a ground plane.
I am wondering if these are just junk.

Does anyone have any preferred GPS modules?
