I have a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B Rev 1 running Raspbian (Debian 12, bookworm). I have a mic with an audio jack and a tiny USB microphone with no markings on it (thus, no model number). When I run Audacity, there are four options for audio input. The only option that yields any recording is one that seems to listen to the microphone.
But I'm trying to input audio to a Java program. (I'd settle for a Python program if there is one.) So far, I haven't been able to get the program to hear any audio input.
I read on one of this forum's postings that the Raspberry Pi doesn't have a sound card that's capable of input, so I need to buy an external sound card. That would be easy enough, but if there's no input facility on the board, why would Audacity be picking up the USB mic's input?
Thanks for any help.
