Yes, that was the problem. When I flipped the hub's USB-C connection over, the 2.5 GBE adapter advertised and connected at 2500Mbit. However, the connection is somewhat unreliable - I get a freeze with no throughput for a couple of seconds every few minutes. The Pi is booting off an SSD, so I have to run either it or the Ethernet adapter through the hub. I'll try swapping things so that the 2.5 GBE adapter connects directly to the Pi and the SSD connects via the hub, to see if that makes any difference.I take it you're using a USB A to C adapter that supports USB3.0? It might be miswired and need rotating so the USB3.0 pairs line up.
Can a Pi5 with its 5V/5A power supply run both an SSD and Ethernet adapter directly off the built-in USB ports?
