Troubleshooting • Network manager asking for password for stored network

In my boat Pi 4 with upgraded Bookworm I have several profiles in network manager, for the network at my cabin, for the guest network in town and for a few friends' cabins, when I'm there. This week the boat is in town in freshwater to get rid of fouling (seaweed, polyps and similar growths under the waterline slows it down and increases petrol usage considerably), so it needs to connect to the wifi there. When the Pi connects to any other network than the one at my own cabin, it automatically starts OpenVPN to the cabin's server, so I can control charging and everything else in the boat as if it is at the cabin.

But I have had several times the last week that the Pi disappears. When I walk down to the river (only a few minutes from here) it invriably asks for the password, only the password is saved and if I click on "Show password" it is there, and it is correct! Does anybody have any idea why this is happening? The signal isn't great, but it is not terrible either, 2-3 bars on the meter when it's connected. The Pi uses an Asus USB dongle that I have in a waterproof box on the roof, since the aluminium wheelhouse acts like a Faraday cage for the onboard wifi. Still, I doubt that's the problem, it always works at the cabin.
