As someone considering a Pi 5 based NAS, my main reason is the Pi will be supported longer.+1..
Another topic is why someone who needs so much storage devices gets a Pi and makes such fragile usb contraption instead of getting well powered miniPC with few nvme/sata/usb3.0 slots/ports inside and puts same Debian version on it and saves a lot of hassle and even some money and ends with something more I/O performant than this.
or a simple NAS.
WD resale price of a 'My Cloud Home - 8TB' is roughly 285EUR --> connect it to LAN and you're done.
