Tried various ways of doing that and it makes no difference.
Same result, a "video" that seems to be repeats of the same single frame (or part of it) interspersed with black screens.
However, this triggered me into running the MP4 video in my (aging!) PC - and it works just fine!
So then I tried them in another pi3B running Buster, headless over VNC. They play just fine.
SO, it seems that displaying the video in the headless setup using RealVNC is the problem.
Any clues from anyone about how to resolve this?
