Troubleshooting • Re: USB-C extension to official 27W power supply for RPi5?

USB Type C extension cables aren't compliant with the PD specification.
Some dumb extension cables are but whether they can carry 5A of current is another matter.
Ooh can you show my where in the Type C specification this is allowed ?
Sorry; I thought you meant dumb extensions wouldn't work with PD, didn't have the wires or whatever.

No, USB-C extension leads aren't a part of the USB-IF official spec - but, so what ? Manufacturers will still make and sell them. The official spec has elicited shrugs for decades, ever since USB devices used USB-A sockets and needed USB-A to USB-A cables.

It's not so much they shouldn't exist according to the official spec but whether they work, and why not when they don't. Not being a part of the official spec is not going to be the reason they won't work.
