Yes, however you first have to establish the association between the file type and the desired application.The only way I can open a docx file is to open libreoffice and then load the document. Is there a way around this?
Once established it will persist, until changed. The only limitation is that you can only have one application associated with a file type. You can still open using another application, via right click and "open with".
