I'm first time RasPi user. I know lot of people ask similar topic and I have been through most of them and still unlucky to resolve my problem.
I bought CanaKit Raspberry Pi 4 4GB start Pro kit this week. I followed the installation video to connect the fan, keyboard, mouse, and display, plugged in the micro SD card that came with the kit, and turned on the power, but the display went black.
At first I thought it was a problem with the HDMI cable. So I bought a new one, still the same problem.
I found another 32G micro SD card and used Raspberry Pi Imager to install the OS on the new SD card.Still the same problem.
I checked online and tried to gradually add hdmi_group=1, hdmi_mode=16 (or hdmi_group=2, hdmi_mode=82), hdmi_force_hotplug=1, config_hdmi_boost=1, hdmi_safe=1 in the config.txt file. They are all the same. question. (I looked online and saw that the configuration file is in /boot/config.txt, but what I saw is that config.txt is directly in the root directory of the SD card)
I also tried different monitors and TVs, using Raspberry Pi Imager I tried 32bit and 64bit OS, but both screens were black.
But I can access the machine through SSH. I tried $ sudo raspi-config and changed the options in 2. Display Options, but it didn't work.
Anyone can help?
Hi,

A late reply, but better late than never I guess!
The most common issue is that the HDMI cable is too long. Yes, it sounds stupid, but it works. Don't buy cables that are over a meter, maybe two max.
