Just a note that default swap has recently been bumped to 200MB as a default. The RPios default swap space allocation is 100MB is not sufficient on a Pi Zero with 512MB memory.
This was due to apt upgrade running out of RAM when some large packages were upgraded.
200MB has been found to be sufficient for the specific apt issue reported, but no doubt there are other
examples where even more swap would be beneficial.
If you have a specific common example where increased swap is beneficial, then it may be worth creating
an issue to describe the use case.
Be aware though, that the default setting is a compromise. Higher values mean less free space and
(if typical use relies on the increased swap) higher wear on the sdcard.
For specific use cases, manually increasing the swap value is often the right solution,
but if you believe the default size should be adjusted, we're happy to listen to what people think.
