The noise is coming from an abrupt cut to the power during the spin-up process and it is not healthy.
The HDD spins up a fraction of a second before the pi5 turns off(light turns red). The hdd which was in standby starts spinning up and 0.2secs later power is cut abruptly creating a mechanical noise as the pi5 LED turns red.
I explored systemd services as well. I'm not getting reliable shutdowns where the HDD doesn't spin up and gets interrupted.
