Hello everyone. This seems like the right post. I seem to be having the same issues and can't figure out why. I've tried all the updates (kernel, eeprom). formatted every which way I can think of. No matter what. I get I/O errors using my NVMe. Here is a quick breakdown:
Raspbian lite bookworm
Raspberry pi 5
sabrent usb externel nvme case
samsung 256gb nvme
canakit 27w power supply (and tried geekpi 27w ps)
I am upgrading from my pi 4. my pi 4 is able to boot from the nvme just fine. The Pi 5. Will not and can not no matter what. I have tried Raspbian OS lite and full. I have tried Dietpi. No luck. wont boot. I have tried raspberry pi imager and balena. no luck. I have swapped out the samsung drive with the nvme from laptop and tried that. same results. I/O errors and wont boot anything.
So I am at the point thinking it's either my usb case or my pi 5. I find it hard top beleive its the nvme case since its sabrent and works with the pi 4, but who knows. Is there any way you folks know a way I can pinpoint which is at fault?
Thanks so much for any help. It is greatly appreciated by the way!!!
Right now I am running my pi 5 from the sd card and it SUCKS lol. Only because I know it could be so much faster an better![Smile :)]()
